Dead River Derby will host their next home bout on July 25th in Marquette’s Lakeview Arena.

The derby group is spilt into two teams and will host two different opponents. The first team, Rolling Riptide, will be skate first at 6 p.m against the Small Town Outlaws from downstate Kalkaska. Immediately following is Dead River Derby’s Superior Sirens who will face the Mitten Mavens, which is based in Lansing.

The Rolling Riptide is Dead River Derby’s travel team while the Superior Sirens do not. Some skaters may be on the roster for both bouts, but the increase in interest for the teams create enough for two rosters.

Dead River Derby has chosen UPAWS to be the beneficiary of the event. Each bout selects a different charity to receive a donation from the ticket sales. They are also looking for volunteers at the bout.

“We are seeking individuals to make this fast paced sport even more pleasurable. There are lots of opportunities to help out, and there are plenty of perks for lending a hand!  If you’re interested in free admission to bouts, open invitations to the after parties and some other awesome incentives, please contact our Volunteer Director by email at volunteer4drd@gmail.com,” jammer/blocker Zia said.

Doors open at 5 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased in advance from members of the team or at brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Children 12 and under are free. Dead River Derby will provide concessions including food, soda, and beer/wine sales. Visit the team’s website or Facebook page for more info.
