Every week, Marquette Social Scene will rank the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s 15 football schools from best to worst and will see how Northern Michigan University fits each week. Broken into the contenders, the darkhorses and rebuilds, read what the GLIAC has to offer below.
We’re going to keep going positive with Malone as they continue to look up towards everyone else in the conference, so pointing out freshmen defensive backs Cameron Mammen, Jordan Johnson and Daniel Tepe produced three interceptions and 14 tackles would be a great start.
Saginaw’s performance against Tech was admirable, but patience will be needed when Ferris State comes to town. The Cards need to focus on getting to the red zone, as they’ve made just five trips in three games.
The Cavaliers have failed again in a GLIAC South game and this week they are hosting Ohio Dominican which won’t make anything easier. Another winnable game doesn’t look like it will come until they host Malone on October 18.
Bilal and company scored a big win against Walsh, but they did it at home. But if there has been a place that the Storm has done well on the road, it’s been Allendale. Expect another fun game against Grand Valley this week.
The Dragons let their game against Findlay get messy after keeping it tight for three quarters. If Tiffin beats Malone, they will be at .500 in week 4 of the season. They haven’t been above .500 this late in the season since they joined the GLIAC.
