The meow game. It’s where someone tries to say “meow” as many times in an interview or altercation without the other person figuring it out.

Former Northern Michigan University hockey player Ray Kaunisto played the meow game with his ECHL team the Kalamazoo Wings during an intermission interview.

Kaunisto dropped seven meows in a 41-second interview, so that’s pretty impressive. That’s 5.85 seconds per meow.

The meow game is one of the most successful gags from the 2001 movie Super Troopers where two characters tried to say meow ten times during a traffic stop. Comedian Jim Gaffigan purr-fectly played into the gag and it is one of the better scenes from Broken Lizard, the group that made the movie. They also happened to perform at Northern while Kaunisto was still at NMU, so he might have been holding onto this one for a while.

The Yahoo! hockey blog Puck Daddy first reported on Kaunisto’s antics. The Wings are currently 6-9-0-1 and sixth in the ECHL’s Eastern Division.
